Offshore Wind
Fabrication Deliverables and Logistics Support for the Offshore Wind Industry
Strategic Positioning
Multimarine Services Ltd enjoys significant Local Expertise and Geographical Advantage in the Eastern Mediterranean. Multimarine is strategically positioned inside Limassol Port, Cyprus from where we operate our fabrication facilities with direct sea access and dedicated quay equipped with a 750t Crawler Crane. Our extensive infrastructure and machinery facilitates the delivery of heavy or complex fabrication.
Our large portfolio of completed fabrication projects demonstrates our target to become leaders in Mediterranean, and our expertise varies from structural fabrications and new buildings to pipe work and subsea structures.
Additionally, Multimarine has a proven track record of demonstrating scalability and flexibility. We have the ability to scale operations based on project needs and the flexibility to adapt to different project sizes and complexities.
Multimarine operates three (3) Fabrication and Welding Workshops strategically located inside the Port of Limassol. The fact that we are based inside the port enables us to gain easy access to our clients’ vessels and significantly reduce movement of the fabricated structures. Finally, we believe in effective communication, and we offer our clients full access to our premises for inspection and monitoring.
For the offshore wind industry we can undertake different types of fabrication and logistics projects including:
Fabrication of Foundations
- Monopiles and Jackets: Fabricate monopile foundations and jacket structures for fixed-bottom wind turbines. These are the primary load-bearing structures anchored to the seabed.
- Floating Platform Components: Produce steel components for floating wind platforms, such as modular sections of semi-submersible platforms, pontoons, or spar
- Special Structures such as Floating Electrical Hubs, MonoBuoys etc
Secondary Steel Structures
- Cable Protection Systems (CPS): Fabricate secondary steel components like cable protection systems that safeguard submarine cables at entry points on monopiles, jackets, or floating platforms.
- Boat Landings and Access Systems: Offer fabrication of boat landings, ladders, and access platforms, which are essential for safe crew access to offshore wind turbines.
- J-Tube Systems: Provide J-tube systems for guiding power cables from the seabed to wind turbines or offshore substations, a critical element for power transmission.
- Platform Extensions and Walkways: Fabricate extensions and walkways for offshore wind turbine foundations or floating platforms, ensuring safe access during installation and maintenance.
Meteorological Buoys and Environmental Monitoring Platforms
- Design and Fabrication: Offer the design and fabrication of meteorological buoys used for wind resource assessment and environmental monitoring, essential during both pre-construction and operational phases.
- Integration with Remote Sensing Technologies: Fabricate buoys integrated with LiDAR technology for enhanced wind measurement accuracy.
- Environmental Monitoring Stations: Fabricate platforms for environmental monitoring, housing sensors and equipment to monitor marine life, water quality, and other environmental parameters around wind farms.
Mooring Connectors and Anchoring Systems
- Mooring Connectors: Fabricate mooring connectors used in floating wind projects to attach floating platforms to anchors or mooring lines, designed to withstand substantial marine loads.
- Anchoring Systems: Provide customized anchoring systems, including drag anchors, suction piles, or gravity anchors, tailored to specific seabed conditions.
Assembly and Pre-assembly Services
- Tower Section Pre-assembly: Offer services for pre-assembling tower sections onshore to reduce installation time offshore.
- Nacelle and Tower Assembly: Assemble nacelles and tower sections at the shipyard before transportation, ensuring high-quality and efficient offshore installation.
Marine Logistics and Installation Support
- Specialized Vessels and Heavy Duty Barges for Installation: Provide heavy duty barges or retrofit vessels for the transportation and installation of wind turbine components, including jack-up vessels for fixed-bottom turbines or dynamic positioning vessels for floating platforms.
Local Port Facility in the Eastern Mediterranean
- Assembly and Integration Hub: Multimarine facilities in Limassol Port in the Eastern Mediterranean may serve as an assembly and integration hub for wind turbine components. This location can facilitate the combination of different components (e.g., towers, nacelles, blades, foundations) before they are transported to the installation site.
- Logistical Efficiency: The proximity to the installation sites in the Eastern Mediterranean can significantly reduce transportation time and costs, making it a strategic location for staging and assembling wind farm components.
- Support for Regional Projects: This port facility can also serve as a base for supporting multiple regional projects, providing storage, maintenance, and logistics services tailored to the needs of offshore wind developers.
Supply Chain and Logistics Coordination
- Component Storage and Handling: Multimarine shipyard’s facilities and Limassol port can be utilized for the storage and handling of large wind turbine components, offering just-in-time delivery to installation sites.
Successful Testimonial
Fabrication of the Floating Electrical Hub (FEH) for the EOLMED Offshore Wind Farm Project
We proudly announce the construction of the Floating Electrical Hub (FEH) for Bourbon for the EOLMED Offshore Wind Farm Project. The FEH is now installed in the wind farm offshore to the Port La Nouvelle in France.
The fabrication was completed successfully within the timeframe at Multimarine’s Fabrication Facilities in Limassol Port, Cyprus.
This is a major milestone for Multimarine where another fabrication project is successfully delivered to a multinational client. Furthermore, this project further enhances the reputation of Multimarine in delivering complex and specialized fabrication projects to the Energy and Renewable Industries as well as demonstrates that Limassol Port and Cyprus can play an important role in the regional and international offshore development projects.
Renos Phokas, Group CEO, comments ‘’The offshore wind industry is a major emerging market globally and our vision is for Multimarine to play an important role in the fabrication deliverables of these projects. This further aligns with our Group target to be a leading contractor in renewable energy projects. The outcome of our first offshore wind project was extremely positive and we look forward for our participation in more green energy projects that we have in the pipeline’’
