Renos Phokas a visionary in the Cyprus ship repairs sector forms Multimarine Services Ltd. The company’s main activities include the completion of afloat ship repairs projects in Cyprus ports and Renos embarks into a remarkable journey starting from a small workshop facility in Limassol and 3 employees into the success stories and growth that followed.
Multimarine signs a Frame Agreement with TECHNIP UK for the provision of fabrication, welding and vessel seafastening services in Limassol Port for the Simian, Sienna and Sapphire Project in Egypt.
Multimarine moves into new location in Limassol Port where the company erects a fabrication facility to meet the The Frame Agreement with TECHNIP UK is renewed to include the scope of work of the Simian Cut & Replace Project, offshore Egypt. By that time the reputation of Multimarine as reliable service provider for the East Med oil and gas activities was rewarded with the signing of a Frame Agreement with SAIPEM UK.
The agreement covered the fabrications of subsea and offshore structures, the provision of certified and qualified personnel, and the provision of mobile cranes, forklift trucks, and other transport vehicles, machinery and equipment for the Burullus WDDM Phase IV Project.
Multimarine and SAIPEM UK renewed their Frame Agreement to cover all works to be carried out in Cyprus for the SEQUOIA Project, offshore Egypt.
Multimarine's experience in the field of fabrications was successfully tested when the company won an international tender for the Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) of a floating mooring barge. Multimarine's package was favored against shipyards based in 10 different countries, including Turkey, Russia, Greece and Sweden. The barge was fabricated in our state-of-the-art shipyard facilities inside Limassol Port.
In May, Multimarine signed a contract with Weatherford Global Products Ltd for the complete refurbishment of 28 Air Boosters. This project involved the application of specialized welding techniques under the inspection and verification regime of Bureau Veritas.
In July, Multimarine became the first company in the Cyprus Ship Repairs and New Buildings sector with a Quality Management System accredited to ISO 9001:2008.
In October, Multimarine's excellent reputation enabled the company to successfully win a major tender for the provision of welders to carry out works afloat in France, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and other areas in the Eastern Mediterranean.
In January, Multimarine became the first Cypriot company with welding approvals from 3 different classification societies, members of the IACS: Det Norske Veritas, Bureau Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd.
In February, Multimarine signed a Master Service Agreement with Pride International Inc (later ENSCO and VALARIS) for the provision of fabrication, welding, procurement and general support services during the drilling campaigns of the Semi-submersible Pride North America (later ENSCO 5006) in Cyprus and Israel. In addition, Multimarine was the only Cypriot company that successfully attended offshore and completed onboard the Drilling Rig several packages.
In January 2012, Multimarine and SAIPEM renewed their Frame Agreement to cover all temporary precommissioning fabrication, welding of CVC Heads to PLRs and mobilization works required for M/V Normand Cutter in Limassol Port during the scope of the Burullus WDDM Phase VIIIb Project. The vessel mobilization was completed in June 2012.
In May, Multimarine signed agreements with EMAS and Weatherford for the provision of fabrication, mobilization and demobilization services for the subsea works of the TAMAR Field Development Project.
In December, the Joint Venture between Multimarine and Biotek SA was awarded the onshore piping subcontract which involved the prefabrication and installation of around 17km of pipelines (3” to 24”) at VTT Vasilikos Tank Farm at Vasilikos, Cyprus. The Contract Value of approx 6m Euro, ranks it as one of the largest ever piping contracts ever completed onshore Cyprus.
The Group companies Atlas Offshore Operations (specialized in shipping agency and logistics) and Cyprus Marine Inspections (CMI) Ltd (Viking liferafts service station) are being formed.
In July 2013, Multimarine completed the PLEM Modification Project in Limassol Port for Geocean. The outstanding quality of Multimarine works won the opportunity to provide its certified welders offshore Libya to assist in the final PLEM installation.
In September, Multimarine was awarded by National Oilwell Varco (NOV) the 5 year recertification of 118 Marine Riser Joints. The Joints owned by DIAMOND’s Drilling Rig Ocean Endeavor were transferred to Multimarine’s Yard in Limassol Port from the rig’s location in Egypt.
Multimarine signs a frame agreement with SAIPEM for the provision of mobilization, fabrication and welding services for the Burullus WDDM Phase IX Project, offshore Egypt.
Atlas Offshore wins the tender for the provision of shipping agency and logistics services fo the SAIPEM Burullus WDDM Phase IX Project. The SAIPEM flagship vessel CASTORONE, the world’s largest construction and pipelaying vessel enters for the first time a European Port (Limassol Port) and completes a sucessful mobilization under the agency of Atlas.
Multimarine receives OEM approval by GE Oil & Gas (later BHGE) for the 5 & 10 year recertification of Marine Riser Joints. This is a signifant milestone for Multimarine as we became the only GE approved service station in the Mediterranean.
Also in September 2014, Multimarine becomes a member of the British Institute of NDT (BiNDT), verifying the strong commitment of the company to offer a comprehensive NDE service to our current and future clientele.
In December 2014, Multimarine’s Offshore Tank Cleaning Crew successfully completes the offshore Mud Tank Cleaning onboard the D/S S10000, following the completion of the drilling of the first well by ENI in the Cyprus EEZ. This activity was also completed following the completion of the drilling of the second well in April 2015.
Multimarine and SAIPEM 10000 develop a sucessful relationship where all the 5 & 10 year Overhaul & Repairs (O&R) of the Marine Riser Joints are being serviced by Multimarine.
Multimarine is appointed by Subsea7 to provide seafastening and mobilization services for their fleet undertaking West Nile Delta offshore campaign in Egypt. Vessels mobilized include the Seven Borealis and Rockwater 2.
Atlas Offshore Operations wins the SAIPEM tender for the provision of shipping agency and logistics services for the ZOHR Development Project, Egypt. This is the largest ever shipping agency and logistics contract ever awarded in Cyprus and expands over a period of 5 years (2016-2021) to cover all 3 phases of the ZOHR Development (ASU, RUP, ORU).

In 2017, Multimarine introduced the sister company called Multimarine Shipyards Ltd and have invested in a state-of-the-art, class approved, modern and brand new Floating Dock with all associated berthing facilities in Limassol Port, Cyprus. The Floating Dock ERENEOS arrives in Limassol Port in December 2017 and is positioned in it’s permanent location in Limassol Port.
Atlas and Multimarine set up shorebases in Limassol and Larnaca Ports to support the SAIPEM ZOHR Development Project.
Multimarine provides several support services to the Seadrill Drillship West Capella operating for TOTAL in the Cyprus EEZ.
1st Janaury 2018 is a historic date for Multimarine Shipyards as our Floating Dock Ereneos commences activities with the completion of the first drydocking of the vessel BURCH WILLIAMS of Tidewater. Second and third drydockings were the special surveys of the EDISON CHOUEST vessels TED SMITH and ANDREA CHOUEST.
In February, Multimarine completes the Maintenance & Repairs Stop of the Subsea7 vessel SEVEN EAGLE in Limassol.
In March, Multimarine Services completes the full maintenance of the BFOT 6 at the Dhekelia Power Station of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC).
In April, Multimarine completes the fabrication of subsea crossing sleepers for the SAIPEM ZOHR Project
In July, Multimarine completes the 5 year recertifcation of 16 x 90ft Marine Riser Joints and 1 x Pup Joint for GE Oil & Gas.

The ENVIROSYSTEMS-MULTIMARINE CONSORTIUM completes the construction of three Glass Lined Steel (GLS) potable water tanks of 5000m3 for the Cyprus Water Board
In March, the Drill Ship ENSCO DS-7 arrives in Limassol anchorage for a maintenance and repairs stop and Multimarine succesfully completes several contracts.
Between April and August, Multimarine receives several awards from TECHNIP USA for the Leviathan Development Project, Israel. The contracts included several fabrication (jumper stands, spreder bars, PLRs), the provision of personnel and handling equipment (cranes, forklifts, trucks etc) at the Technip Shorebase, the transportation and load out of Rigid Jumpers and spools as well as the completion of all vessel seafastening and mobilization activities (vessels DEEP Blue, DEEP Explorer, Bourbon Emerald, Far Samson).
In June, Multimarine receives the brand new Crawler Crane LR1750/1, SWL 750t, the largest capacity crawler crane in Cyprus.
In September, we expand our group by introducing
- Multilab Testing Ltd an independent laboratory with state-of-art facilities for material testing and calibration services
- Balmacro Holdings Ltd who owns and operates a Bonded Warehouse and Logistics Facility in close proximity from Limassol Port
In December, Technip UK awards Multimarine a Contract that covers the Provision of Personnel & Equipment Services for the Karish Gas Development Project for Energean in Israel. The contract covers the provision of seafastening, fabrication and mobilization services in Cyprus throughout the project.

In May, Multimarine Services and the Greek Poseidon Marine Supplies join forces to develop in Cyprus the Poseidon Multimarine Services Ltd. The company operates a Marine Fire Service Station and represents key brands for the Maritime Industry such as Drager Safety Products and COMET.
Multimarine receives awards from CHEVRON for several fabrication work including the fabrication of Net Guards to support the Mari-B Decommissioning Project and several fabrication relating to the Umbilical recovery project in Israel.
In July, we introduce Multimarine Services (Belgium) BV with facilities in Antwerp. The company offers afloat ship repair services to the Port of Antwerp and the Benelux Region.
In October, Multimarine succesfully delivers to Bluewater Energy Services the fabrication of a Monobuoy and a PLEM for final destination in Benin, Africa.
Our ship repairs team installs a BWTS on the Interorient vessel Baltic Mariner. The project takes place alongside Larnaca Port, Cyprus.
In November, the joint venture between Multimarine and Spanopoulos signs a multimillion contract for the Construction of the Offshore Jetty for the Vassiliko LNG Receicing and Regassification Terminal in Cyprus. Our shipyard succesfully completes the special surveys on the two sister Fletcher UK PSVs FS Balmoral and FS Braemar
In March, Atlas Offshore Operations is succesfully awarded by SAIPEM the Shipping Agency and Logistics contract for the Gastrade FSRU Project in Alexandroupolis, Greece. Both Multimarine and Atlas succesfully mobilize several resources in Greece for the execution of the project.
In April, TechnipFMC UK awards Multimarine a Contract that covers the Provision of Personnel & Equipment Services for the Karish North Development Project for Energean in Israel. The contract covers the provision of seafastening, fabrication and mobilization services in Cyprus throughout the project.
Furthermore, in April, we introduce Multimarine Services GR SA, based in Greece. The company offers ship repairs and integrated logistics services at the Port of Alexandroupolis, Greece.
In June, Multimarine succesfully completes the fabrication of the 5 x Rigid Jumpers for the TAMAR and LEVIATHAN fields, Israel for DOF and CHEVRON. The kit fabrication, final assembly, FAT/SIT tests and vessel load outs took place from Multimarine facilities and quayside at Limassol Port. The project involves the fabrication of several auxilliary structures such as fabrication stands, transportation stands, provision of spreader bars and others.
In August, Multimarine succesfully delivers to Bourbon the fabrication of the Floating Electrical Hub (FEH) for the EOLMED Offshore Windfarm Project at Port-la-Nouvelle, France. The FEH was delivered to Bourbon at our quayside in Limassol Port and was wet-towed to France.
In November, Multimarine participates in a consortium of local and international companies and institutions where the consortium leader is the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and was awarded the EU Horizon Project called Blue Bunkering of Anchored ships with Renewable Generated Electricity called BlueBARGE. Cyprus plays an important role as the prototype development takes place at Multimarine’s shipyard facilities and the testing is on a Cyprus flagged vessel at the Anchorage of Limassol. The BlueBarge as an extremely important development and a project that targets to contribute to the global goal of the decarbonization of the Maritime Industry. Furthermore, although the demonstrator of this project takes place in Cyprus, the project has a global reach and applicability in all the various types of vessels.
In December, Multimarine wins contracts for the fabrication and offshore installation of several testing equipment onboard the Drilling Rig Transocean Barents drilling for ENI in the Cyprus EEZ.
